VivaLaData is a sole proprietorship run by myself, Diana Simonson (formerly known as Cassady).
I am a member of the Apple Consultants Network. I am also a member of the Filemaker Solutions Alliance.
I have been providing computer solutions to large and small clients all over the globe
since 1995. Before that, I worked full-time for the University of Minnesota assisting
in the development of the University of Minnesota Policy and Procedures website. Before
my position in the Policy office, I was a full-time student.
For more information about my work experience, please check out my
clients page. If you are interested in becoming one of my clients, go to the
contact page for information on how you can reach me. My current rates are $105 an hour. I don't currently accept credit cards. Client outside the United States must pay in U.S. dollars through wire transfers, Western Union, or a check made payable through a bank with a United States address.
In addition to the work done for my clients, I've also written a few articles. My latest article on upgrading to Lasso 6 on MacOSX was published in the February 2003 issue of MacDirectory.
Before that I wrote an article in the MacTech April 2000 issue as the cover article entitled Linking Web to Desktop: Creating CGIs with REALbasic.
I also co-authored an article in the Filemaker Pro Advisor May 2000 issue with fellow developer Jon Rosen on a new method for creating on-line reports with Filemaker and Lasso.
Filemaker Pro Advisor published another article of mine in their September 1999 issue. It detailed how to build a Filemaker Pro system to manage dynamic data from the
Internet - specifically stock data. I have also had a couple articles published in
Inside Filemaker Pro
by Ziff-Davis. My first article in Inside Filemaker Pro was on Automated Faxing with Faxcilitate published in
October 1997 issue (Volume 5 Number 10). The second was published in the
January 1998 issue and was on synchronizing remote databases.
I've also had software and tutorials published
on several CDs. In 1995, I started a series of on-line tutorials called the Learning Links. They were
published on Starnine's WebStar CD around October 1996. The Learning Links
were bundled about 6 months after that on the Tango CD. In January 1997
I created a Bulletin Board system for BlueWorld using Lasso Lite
that was published on the Claris Home Page CD.
I have had some teaching opportunities. I gave a three hour session on
applescript for New York Mac User Group in July 1997. A year earlier
I gave three 90 minute hands-on sessions at Apple headquarters in Cupertino on how to put Filemaker Pro
on the web (arranged by WebEdge).
Over the past few years, my site has undergone several major revisions.
The latest design revision was completed in June of 1999. At that time the site was slimmed down
and simplified to make it easier to find and maintain information. All web site contents
including the button graphics and logos are my original creations. My web site is a reflection of my basic philosophy.
- Keep it simple without sacrificing functionality.
- Be consistent without being redundant.
- Don't reinvent the wheel. Improve it!
I hope you find this site to be a useful resource. Thanks for visiting and please come back soon!
